Convert TTML to SRT
Turn a TTML timed-text file into a SubRip .srt subtitle. Drop it below and it converts instantly in your browser, with nothing uploaded.
TTML and SRT, briefly
TTML (Timed Text Markup Language) is an XML format used across broadcast and streaming, including its profiles like SMPTE-TT, EBU-TT, and IMSC. It wraps each caption in a <p> element with begin and end attributes, along with styling and layout that a plain subtitle file doesn't carry.
This converter reads those cues, keeps the timing and multi-line text, and writes a standard SubRip .srt that opens in any player. The XML styling and positioning don't exist in SRT, so they're dropped; the words and timing come across intact.
FAQ
What is a TTML file?
TTML is Timed Text Markup Language, an XML-based caption format used in broadcast and streaming. Cues are
elements with begin and end times. It can carry styling and layout that plainer formats like SRT can't.
Is anything lost in the conversion?
The timing and text come across exactly. TTML styling, colours, and positioning have no equivalent in SRT, so those are dropped. For most subtitles that just means clean, readable text with correct timing.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in JavaScript inside your browser. Your file never leaves your device and no server is involved.
